Invite: September Co-Working 👩🏻‍💻

Join me for an online Q+A and co-working session on September 19th

I’ve been self-employed and working from home since 2011…and although I generally prefer the solitude, it can be a bit isolating.

I’ve often found solace in online co-working with friends or even just quick monthly check-ins to set goals and hold each other accountable.

In that spirit, I’m excited to host an online co-working session for anyone who would like to attend (self-employed or otherwise)! The feedback was pretty evenly split, and due to some schedule changes, I did my best to satisfy the most people while also working with my schedule and international time zones. Here’s how it’ll go down

WHEN:

Tuesday, September 19th

9-11 AM CST (but see below for some schedule details)

HOW:

Based on feedback AND what I’ve enjoyed about other co-working experiences, this is how we’ll break things up:

9:00-9:30 CST: Office hours with Dani! Got something you think I could help with? Or a question to post to the group? Pop in during the first 30 minutes. I’ll be there to answer questions. I don’t expect this to be hectic — so you’re also welcome to get on and talk to me about the weather or just start working if you need the extra time.

Curious what kinds of things I can help with? I’m a pretty big nerd for the Google Universe and can answer most questions about Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail etc. Obviously happy to answer questions about Substack, newsletters, or email marketing!

I use a ton of services for my shop and business! My resume page lists all the technologies and services I’m proficient in. This could also be a chance for crowdsourcing ideas from others! These are some example questions you might consider:

1. I’m starting a business doing _______. What service would you recommend for creating my own website quickly and easily?

2. Here’s a link to my Instagram account. Can you help me brainstorm five post ideas for September?

3. I’m building a Google Doc/Sheet for ______. How can I optimize/improve it?

4. I want to create a digital download/ebook. What’s the best way to create it?

5. I’m opening a bakery and can’t chose between three logos. Could everyone weigh in?

Note: If you don’t have questions and wouldn’t enjoy listening in on this, feel free to consider 9:30 the “start time”.

9:30-9:45 CST - We’ll have two fun “shared” experiences to bring the group together, and we’ll use this time to do ‘em.

👋🏻The first will be a virtual “whiteboard” where you can share your name, where you’re from, a social media handle (optional), and state what you're working on or what your goal for the session is.

🎵 We’ll also have a Spotify “Listening Session” where we can all enjoy the same chill playlist while we work (optional, of course). I’ll share the link/QR code, and you can open it on your own device/stream to your speaker.

Note: If this kinda stuff gives you social anxiety, feel free to just log on at 9:45 and get to work!

9:45-10:45 CST - For one hour, we will all “mute” ourselves and work independently. You can even turn off your camera during this time if that’s most comfortable for you, or leave it on if that’s helpful for accountability (I’ll leave mine on for anyone who appreciates this!).

10:45 - 11:00 CST - We’ll come back together and update the virtual whiteboard to share our progress during the session and will wrap up with some group discussion for those who want to hang around.

Note: Again, if you don’t like this kinda stuff, feel free to peace out when the work session ends.

WHERE:

It’ll be hosted via Google Meet. If you’re new to it, don’t worry. It’s basically identical to Zoom! Just click the link at the scheduled time and hop on in.

I’ll leave it up to you whether you have your video on or off, use filters, blur your background, or superimpose yourself on a beach. However you are most comfortable showing up!
